Session Abstract:

IoT offers significant promise to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and provide better service but it comes with enormous security challenges for sensitive OT and SCADA networks. A viligant security posture and strong understanding of application architecture must be paired with modern practices in order to safely introduce these emerging capabilities. In this session, we will review key principles for introduction IoT and Edge processing into the OT networks. Attendees will learn strategies and principles to address threats from physical access, hardware layers, legacy and modern protocols, local wireless network, backhaul, server side infrastructure, and application logic will be shared and readily discussed with those interested in helping solve our biggest challenge in the industrial internet of things. Expected Outcome: Attendees will receive a high level overview of an IoT solution running across OT/IT networks and its value. Elements of the solution along with security threats will be discussed. Attendees will be better aware of the risks of introducing solutions but also enabled to design viable solutions to those challenges in their day-to-day delivery.
